The IceBusters custom-made trailer consists of a 300 gallon water tank, 16 hp powerwasher, 6500 watt generator and a specially designed kerosene-fired water heater. What Causes Ice Dams?
Ideally, the temperature inside the attic should be the same as the air outside. If its 10° outside, it should be 10° in the attic. When you don’t have enough insulation and/or ventilation – heat from inside your home escapes into the attic warming the underside of your shingles. As the water rolls down to the coldest part of the roof – the eave, it re-freezes – creating ice and icicles in the gutters and ice dams on the roof. The money you spend to heat your home is basically melting snow on your roof!
