What Makes Atlas Special? Hear From the Women on Our Team
It’s no secret that the home improvement industry is largely dominated by men. In fact, women make up less than 11% of the total construction industry. Part of what we believe sets Atlas apart from other home improvement companies is our commitment to amplifying women and recognizing that their contributions are invaluable in this industry.
Simply put, we’re a better company because of the women on our team. But, don’t take our word for it. We recently sat down with some of the wonderful ladies on our team to get their feedback about what makes Atlas different and why they’ve chosen to grow their careers here.
Note: some responses have been edited for clarity and length.
What makes you excited about coming to work at Atlas each day?
Brooke S: I love that my job is not always the same every single day. The “basics” of my job are, but each project is so unique that I don’t feel like I come in and do the same thing over and over every single day.
Carolyn P: I like that our company strives to do honest work. There are checks and balances put in place to make sure that we are working to satisfy our customers, and changes, if/when needed, are made to keep that progress moving forward. We take pride in helping our customers get a quality product that will help improve the function of their homes, fit their growth, and in some cases, help them stay in their homes longer and keep their independence as they age.
Dee W: The people I work with. This IS family. I love each person for different reasons.
Nicole P: I’m engaged with the work I do here. I lose myself in it and find my work fun. The feeling I get in knowing that I’m here to help our team is worth it all to me. Guiding them to success has been one of my biggest accomplishments here.
Sarah C: Working with my team and the customers who are so excited about what we have to offer! I love knowing we’re offering a great product and being part of a company that stands behind our parts and labor.
How does the Atlas team go above and beyond for customers?
Brooke S: Atlas is always looking out for our customers! We keep them informed through the whole process and if we come across unexpected things during the installation, we stop and inform the customer right away and give them options on how to move forward. Atlas will NOT cover anything up.
Carolyn P: There are times when a veteran goes through us to upgrade their bathroom. To help the process go smoothly, we do all that we can by sending pictures, invoices, and final paperwork that is needed at completion for final payment to make the process as simple as possible for the customer. That way, they don’t have to guess what is needed or keep sending additional paperwork.
Dee W: We are always trying to help when we can. We have a great team of understanding people that truly care.
Nicole P: Doc and Darian really seek to build relationships with their customers. They truly stand out amongst others. I love that they respond to every single review left on Google.
Sarah C: Atlas has spent a lot of time and energy developing sales techniques, products, and employees who take the needs of customers into account. From making sure that all customers have all decision makers present to the very last detail of installing the product and cleaning up afterward, customer happiness is always the top priority.
As a woman in a male-dominated industry, how do you feel like Atlas amplifies your voice?
Brooke S: They always listen to what I have to say and take my suggestions, thoughts, and opinions seriously.
Carolyn P: There are a majority of women “running” the office here at Atlas. This is where the process starts and ends. I feel that everyone here respects the hard work that the women of Atlas contribute to our company’s success and appreciates the importance of the female voices and opinions that help to keep us growing.
Dee W: I’m a strong-willed female as it is. Atlas allows me to be me and I appreciate that so much.
Nicole P: I thrive being a woman in a male-dominated industry. If you do not believe in yourself in a male-dominated field, then it’s going to be nearly impossible to make others believe in you too. I love that every single one of us is heard at Atlas, male or female.
Sarah C: Atlas does not feel like a male-dominated workplace. There are many women who work here in all types of positions. They care about promoting women, they listen to our thoughts and ideas, and they value each and every member of the team.
What is your favorite thing about working at Atlas?
Brooke S: That fact that it is a family-owned business and every employee is truly treated that way. Everyone truly gets along so well.
Carolyn P: Atlas is growing (still!), so it gives me the opportunity to continually learn new things.
Dee W: The bonds that have been made since I started working here. I love my girls and I’m so grateful for the friendships that have been made. We work hard and play hard.
Nicole P: Our Wednesday meetings. I love the comradery, but also figuring out what needs to be done and leaving that meeting, I know I can report the next week that it was completed and we are ready for the next task!
Sarah C: The confidence I have in our products and the promises we sell. I can go out with my team and know beyond a doubt that every word I say about our product and company is true.
