Helmet Heat: The Best Heated Gutters in Michigan
If you own a home in Ann Arbor or any other area in Michigan, then you’re all too familiar with ice dams. Ice dams form when the temperature of your roofing system allows snow and ice to melt while it’s still freezing outside. This results in water running down your roofing system, where it refreezes on your home’s eaves. If left unchecked, these ice dams can not only clog your gutter system, but also cause damage to your roofline.
Fortunately, Atlas Home Improvement offers a solution to ice dams – heated gutters. Never again will you have to balance precariously on a ladder to chip away chunks of ice because our innovative Helmet Heat system puts an end to ice dams for good.
Helmet Heat is a self-regulating heating cable that can be used for a wide variety of freeze protection applications (such as heated gutters). By installing Helmet Heat along with the Gutter Helmet System you can help protect your home from damage by reducing the amount of ice build-up on your roof.

Innovative Design
There are numerous benefits of our gutter heating system, including that it:
- Has a low profile with no visible wires
- Is self-regulating and GFCI protected
- Does not require roof clips
- Helps prevent the formation of ice
- Helps prevent slippery walkways
- Is energy efficient and easy to use
- Is specially designed for use with Gutter Helmet
Helmet Heat consists of a heated core and a polymeric insulator jacket extruded over it. A thermo-plastic overjacket is then added over that for additional protection. The self-regulating heating cables cannot overheat and are GFCI protected to ensure completely safe operation.
It is self-regulating which means as the temperature drops around the cable, the cable responds by heating up, creating a heated gutter. Conversely, as the temperature rises, the cable cools down to reduce energy usage. In addition to forming ice dams, icicle formation along the eaves of your home may contribute to slippery steps and walkways. Heated gutters significantly reduce this potential safety hazard.
