is simple - removing ice dams quickly and

What
Causes Ice Dams?
Ideally, the temperature inside the attic
should be the same as the air outside. If its 10° outside, it should
be 10° in the attic. When you don’t have
enough insulation and/or ventilation - heat
from inside your home escapes into the attic
warming the underside of your shingles.
As the water rolls down to the coldest part
of the roof – the eave, it re-freezes –
creating ice and icicles in the gutters
and ice dams on the roof. The money you
spend to heat your home is basically melting
snow on your roof!
Removing ice dams from
roofs before they do damage is important,
but its only a quick fix. The long term
solution is usually found by adding ventilation
and insulation in the attic. Please be advised
that we do this kind of work as well. For
homes which cannot be easily insulated or
ventilated, such as those with catheral
or vaulted ceilings, we have specially designed
heat wire system called Heated Helmet. In
order to determine what is the best solution
for your home, we offer a FREE, no-obligation
evaluation of your home's attic.
Don’t
Try Removing Ice Dams Yourself!
Desperate and pressed to do something -
homeowner’s will often employ hammers, shovels, scrapers and even
chain saws when removing ice dams from roofs. Don’t damage
your roof and gutters while endangering
yourself on an icy ladder. Be careful when
using de-icers and chemicals as they can
often discolor shingles and corrode metal.
Instead of risking unnecessary damage to
your home, make the smart move and call
